A new key biodiversity platform for cross sectoral collaboration
For its inaugural launch, World Biodiversity Summit will help define what world leaders and the private sector in biodiversity and climate action need to do in the medium and long term to achieve sustainable development and hinder further biodiversity loss, focusing on partnerships and investment mechanisms as levers of progress. World Biodiversity Summit is a platform for responding to accelerating biodiversity loss, by using the Paris Agreement as a framework to learn from, promoting relevant solutions, innovations, and leadership networks, strengthening nature restoration and conservation. Nature-based solutions will be highlighted, from specificecosystems to global possibilities.

Heather McGeory is Global Lead, Climate and Sustainability, at APCO She has more than 20 years of experience working on climate change issues with business, governments, foundations, non-profits and multilateral institutions through the enablers of communications, campaigns, finance, policy and philanthropy. She has worked to create successful projects and partnerships in and across the public and private sectors in climate change, social innovation and social justice. She also currently serves as an advisor to start-ups focused on carbon markets, blockchain, EV infrastructure and solar fund development.
Ms. McGeory served as the chief operating officer of the We Mean Business coalition and was instrumental in building the organization from 2015-2021. We Mean Business is a global nonprofit driving the world’s most influential companies to Net Zero by 2040. She was an early advocate of the Science Based Targets Initiative, the Science Based Targets Network and the Climate Pledge. Prior to that, Ms. McGeory co-founded the Purpose Climate Lab, that was created to mobilize public voices on climate change.
Ms. McGeory spent four years as a carbon trader at Natsource Asset Management, leading on structured finance global carbon emissions reduction projects, working with the World Bank, the United Nations, sovereign governments, and the banking sector. She also was a Faculty Research Fellow at NASA, studying climate impacts and developing adaptation and mitigation strategies and an Aspen Institute Fellow at the Albright Stonebridge Group, working under former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.
