A new key biodiversity platform for cross sectoral collaboration
For its inaugural launch, World Biodiversity Summit will help define what world leaders and the private sector in biodiversity and climate action need to do in the medium and long term to achieve sustainable development and hinder further biodiversity loss, focusing on partnerships and investment mechanisms as levers of progress. World Biodiversity Summit is a platform for responding to accelerating biodiversity loss, by using the Paris Agreement as a framework to learn from, promoting relevant solutions, innovations, and leadership networks, strengthening nature restoration and conservation. Nature-based solutions will be highlighted, from specificecosystems to global possibilities.
Matsi Modise

Matsi Modise is the Founder and CEO of Furaha Afrika Holdings, a Pan African company with subsidiaries including Furaha Solutions, Furaha Advisory, Furaha Green, and Furaha Digital. She is a shareholder and Chairperson of Fin Africa, a leading African fintech company offering credit-led products that drive financial inclusion through innovation in 5 African markets.Â
Matsi holds various Non-Executive Directorship and trustee positions in local and international entities (Technology Innovation Agency (TIA), Kuehne + Nagel, Momentum Metropolitan Holdings, SAB Foundation, Johannesburg City Power). Matsi continues to play an instrumental role in advocating for policy reform for high impact, high growth technology startups in South Africa, through her role as the Vice Chairperson of SiMODiSA (PBO) and the Chairperson of the South African Startup Act Movement.Â
Matsi has travelled around the world and has an extensive local, continental, and global network of people through being a member of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Shapers community and Young Presidents Organization (YPO), Johannesburg Chapter. She has written and has been featured in numerous local and international publications, including British Vogue, Forbes Africa, Town & Country, Small Business Connect, Entrepreneur Magazine, The Boston Review, Mail & Guardian, Destiny Magazine, Business Day and City Press amongst others. Matsi holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Marketing & Advanced Management) from the University of the Witwatersrand and several management courses from the Institute of Directors SA.Â
