A new key biodiversity platform for cross sectoral collaboration
For its inaugural launch, World Biodiversity Summit will help define what world leaders and the private sector in biodiversity and climate action need to do in the medium and long term to achieve sustainable development and hinder further biodiversity loss, focusing on partnerships and investment mechanisms as levers of progress. World Biodiversity Summit is a platform for responding to accelerating biodiversity loss, by using the Paris Agreement as a framework to learn from, promoting relevant solutions, innovations, and leadership networks, strengthening nature restoration and conservation. Nature-based solutions will be highlighted, from specificecosystems to global possibilities.

Claire Elsdon leads the Global Capital Markets team at CDP, the non-profit that runs the world’s environmental disclosure system. She defines engagement strategy with financial institutions and other capital markets actors including institutional investors, banks, insurers and private equity and debt houses on a global basis, enabling them to request, utilise and apply critical climate, water and forest impact data from the companies they finance. Claire led CDP's role in delivering disclosure solutions for the Bank of England's CBES exercise and has spearheaded CDP's highly innovative sustainable supplier financing solution, most recently culminating in the Vodafone/Citi collaboration.  Â

Prior to CDP, Claire worked for over a decade broking Pan-European Equities to UK based Institutional Investors at HSBC, Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan before moving to Tanzania to establish Africa's leading social enterprise focusing on community motorcycle safety solutions.
