A new key biodiversity platform for cross sectoral collaboration
For its inaugural launch, World Biodiversity Summit will help define what world leaders and the private sector in biodiversity and climate action need to do in the medium and long term to achieve sustainable development and hinder further biodiversity loss, focusing on partnerships and investment mechanisms as levers of progress. World Biodiversity Summit is a platform for responding to accelerating biodiversity loss, by using the Paris Agreement as a framework to learn from, promoting relevant solutions, innovations, and leadership networks, strengthening nature restoration and conservation. Nature-based solutions will be highlighted, from specificecosystems to global possibilities.
Brian O’Callaghan

Dr Brian O’Callaghan is Senior Advisor on Climate Finance at the UN Economic Commission for Africa and Vice President at Acadia Infrastructure Capital. He maintains a part-time academic profile as Lead Researcher at the Program on Government Policy and Investment, Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment, University of Oxford.
Brian is a “thinker and doer” in climate finance, holding active positions on both sides of the public/private capital interface. He is a trusted advisor on green investment and its economic characteristics, having provided counsel to ministers, business executives, and philanthropists in 20+ countries.
Brian was previously at The Boston Consulting Group and the Robertson Foundation. He is a former Fellow of the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government, Harvard University. He holds undergraduate degrees from the University of Sydney in Engineering (Hons, University Medal) and Commerce (Finance) and a DPhil (PhD) in environmental economics from the University of Oxford, where he was a Rhodes Scholar.
