A new key biodiversity platform for cross sectoral collaboration
For its inaugural launch, World Biodiversity Summit will help define what world leaders and the private sector in biodiversity and climate action need to do in the medium and long term to achieve sustainable development and hinder further biodiversity loss, focusing on partnerships and investment mechanisms as levers of progress. World Biodiversity Summit is a platform for responding to accelerating biodiversity loss, by using the Paris Agreement as a framework to learn from, promoting relevant solutions, innovations, and leadership networks, strengthening nature restoration and conservation. Nature-based solutions will be highlighted, from specificecosystems to global possibilities.

Senior Lead on Green Initiatives, Lloyd’s Register Maritime Decarbonisation Hu
Ahila Karan is the Senior Lead on Green Initiatives at the Lloyd’s Register (LR) Maritime Decarbonisation Hub, responsible for leading initiatives designed to enable and accelerate the uptake of alternative fuels in shipping, as well as co-authoring papers in the field including a joint study entitled “Port energy supply infrastructure for green shipping corridors”. Ahila launched the Silk Alliance Green Corridor Cluster initiative in 2022 and represents Lloyd’s Register in the Sustainable Shipping Initiative and sits on the Advisory Group for the UNGC Ocean Investment Protocol. She has more than 7 years’ experience covering global energy markets, with a particular focus on transportation fuels and the cleaner fuels transition. Ahila holds a Master of Science degree from University College London in Economics and her previous experience includes working as a research analyst for a physical commodities and energy trading company and as a commodity pricing specialist reporting on major energy news and the latest environmental policy changes affecting the shipping and road fuels industries.
